Work Experience
2007 – Present Lynchburg College Lynchburg, VA 24501 Assistant Professor of Theatre Studies § Scene Designer, Lighting Designer, and Technical Director for season consisting of two plays, one musical, and two dance shows. When not actively designing, mentoring students designing for the shows. § Supervision over scene shop and stage: manage multiple show budgets of approximately $2,800 per show, as well as production meetings and technical rehearsal. Also create proposals for use of Dean’s Academic Fund. § Supervise student crews, both paid and non-paid. § Teach between two and three classes a year, ranging from Intro to Theatre to upper level design classes. § Participate in multiple committees as part of the college’s Shared Governance program. § Participate actively in recruitment, attending Open Campus Day events, as well as speaking to prospective students at conferences such as SETC and VTA. § Advise students during the pre-registration time period and then register those students as well.
2006 – 2007 Brevard College Brevard, NC 28712 Assistant Professor of Theatre Studies § Scene Designer, Lighting Designer, Costume Designer and Technical Director for season consisting of three theatre shows. When not actively designing, mentoring students designing for the shows. Head Technician for the One-Act Festival, attending by high schools from North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. § Supervision over scene shop and stage: manage multiple show budgets of approximately $2,800 per show, as well as production meetings and technical rehearsal. Also create proposals for use of Friends of the Fine Arts donations. § Supervise student crews, both paid and non-paid. § Teach between six and eight classes a year, ranging from Intro to Theatre to upper level design classes. § Participate in multiple committees as part of the college’s Shared Governance program. § Direct shows when required. § Participate actively in recruitment, attending all Open Campus Day lunches, as well as speaking to prospective students at conferences such as SETC and NCTC. § Advise students during the pre-registration time period and then register those students as well.
2004 – 2006 Saint Mary’s College Notre Dame, IN 46656 Professional Specialist/Technical Director § Scene Designer, Lighting Designer and Technical Director for season consisting of two theatre shows, one dance show, and one opera. § Supervision over scene shop and stage: manage multiple show budgets ranging from $1,800 to $8,000, student and over hire staffing, shop and stage scheduling, and equipment maintenance. § Work with directors in both the Music and the Communications and Performance Studies departments to develop designs for shows. § Oversee the set up and take down of recital and concert equipment. § Teach at least one class a year, ranging from stagecraft to scene and lighting design. Also teach independent study classes for students interested in a more intensive learning experience. § Assist graduating seniors in developing their senior comprehensive.
